A partner in public health
Originally founded as The Staten Island AIDS Task Force, Community Health Action of Staten Island has been bringing communities back to health for over thirty years. Through its many social services, CHASI drives dramatic improvements in the health of Staten Islanders.
Driving dramatic improvements in the health of Staten Islanders
Now part of the Sun River Health network, Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) operates programs and wraparound social services for thousands of Staten Islanders. Over the years, CHASI programs have grown in response to urgent public health needs as they arise.
Today, we run a food pantry and a mobile pantry unit that brings free food to underserved neighborhoods. We operate a 24/7 resource and recovery center.
We offer care management and prevention programs for HIV and other chronic illnesses like diabetes, high blood pressure, and asthma. Our intervention programs are here to help families address the trauma of domestic violence.
CHASI is bringing communities back to health, one person at a time.
CHASI services include:
- HIV services, testing, and prevention
- Food Pantry and Mobile Food Pantry
- Benefits assistance (health insurance and SNAP)
- Domestic Violence & Trauma Services
- Harm Reduction
- Overdose prevention and education
- Care Coordination & Health Home
- Recovery Services for substance use
Complete care for the community
Healthy communities are about more than medical care. Community Health Action provides important social services that extend both the reach and the depth of our care in the communities served by Sun River Health.
