PEEKSKILL, NEW YORK – Sun River Health, a health care provider with sites throughout the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island, will host a free Narcan (Naloxone) training session on October 3 at The Field Library in Peekskill, led by Sun River Health AVP of Substance Use Disorders Crystal Marr, LCSW-R, CASAC-M and Hudson Valley MAT Manager Kimberly Valentin, LPN.
In addition to the training on how to use this life-saving antidote to opioid overdose, different perspectives on how the opioid epidemic impacts communities of color will be discussed, and personal stories from those on a recovery journey will be shared.
Topics to be covered include:
- Signs and symptoms of opioid overdose
- Steps on how to respond to an overdose and administer Narcan
- Benefits of the NYS 911 Good Samaritan Law, and the importance of calling emergency services
This free training is open to everyone in the community and will be held on Thursday, October 3 from 6pm to 8pm in the Nutrition Room on the main floor of The Field Library, located at 4 Nelson Avenue in Peekskill.
