Midwife

Shelby Alexa, CNM is a certified nurse midwife at Sun River Health. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, she went on to receive her master’s degree as a nurse midwife from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Prior to joining Sun River Health, she served patients at Jazz Brooklyn Birth Center in New York City, Refuah Health Center in Spring Valley, and the Hudson Center for Women’s Health in Nyack. Ms. Alexa is licensed to practice as a certified nurse midwife in the State of New York and is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.

Sun River Health women’s health clinicians, including OB-GYNs, midwives, family physicians, nutritionists, and specialists in behavioral health, help women stay healthy through every stage of their lives. Our care team gets to know our patients’ individual health needs, learn about their health history, keeps track of any medications they are taking, and works with them to create a personal care plan.
